About Us

We have been branding, designing and developing responsive websites, and orchestrating cross-platform marketing solutions for nonprofit organizations since 2010—ensuring mission impact and sustainability. Those years of design experience have given us a deeper understanding of the unique challenges nonprofits face. We find joy in using design to overcome those challenges. The foundation of our process is effective project management, user research, and content strategy. The result of our work is elegant, accessible, and responsive design. If you are looking for a team who understands nonprofit strategy and design, you should contact us.

Our Mission

Saint Paul Media builds elegant, user-focused designs for organizations who create positive change.

Our Team

Our collaborative nature is the backbone of our company. We bring our unique backgrounds and expertise to the table to craft exceptional brands, websites and marketing strategies. An intentionally small team, we work directly with every one of our clients and know the details of their projects. No middlemen. No account managers. We’re here to do great work for great clients like you.

Our Approach

Listen

Keeping an Open Mind

Design without data is dangerous. We have to understand a problem before we can design a solution. Knowing the right questions to ask is good; knowing how to listen is better. When we actively listen to our partners and their audiences, we find solutions that benefit everyone.

Learn

Adapting to Constant Change

To be successful in our field, you have to learn new things constantly—and we like it that way! Our process is continually growing and changing as we learn more about our craft. From new prototyping software to Google's latest algorithm, we dig into it all. And on top of the technical stuff, we’re thrilled to learn about different nonprofit causes when we start new projects.

Empathy

Becoming Your Audience

We empathize with your audience by listening to them and learning from them. With a solid understanding of who these individuals really are, we create connections between you and them. And when they feel connected to your brand they donate to your cause, share your stories, and attend your events.

Collaborate

Partners, not vendors

When you work with us on a project, you become part of our team and we become part of yours. We have a wealth of experience designing for nonprofits, but you will always know your organization better than we do. Which is why we approach every project with fresh eyes and collaborate with you every step of the way.

Sustain

Design and Code That Endures

We don’t just build pretty things. Your brand and website are a big investment for your organization and need to remain engaging and relevant for years to come. Our designs are modern but never trendy. We avoid fads and instead focus on what matters—creating something that connects with your audiences and drives them to take action.

Inspire

Foster Inspiration

Inspiration for our work is often found offscreen. We encourage one another to get out of the office, read the latest user experience book, screen print, build something just for the sake of building something. This helps us stay focused, fresh, and motivated. We need to be inspired to inspire you. To take risks. To try new audience engagement methods. To embrace your brand’s unique voice and style. Our goal is to create inspiration through our conversations, our actions, and our designs every single day.

Trust

Simply Transparent

We respect everyone we work with. We won't try to sell you things you don't need or hide what something costs. You’ll never get an unexpected invoice or wonder if something is out of scope. If you feel overwhelmed at the beginning of the process, don’t worry—you can trust us to see you through.

Dedication

Here for the Long Haul

You don’t go into nonprofit design without a purpose. You will see this in the intentionality and thoughtfulness of our designs and by the way we engage with our nonprofit community. Our partners know that we are inspired to put extra effort into helping them fulfill their missions. In turn, they express their support by offering us meaningful, long-term design partnerships.

A Few Organizations We've Worked With

Testimonials

Jonathan and Tasha were with us every step of the way from the initial brainstorming to the design and launch. Not only were they valuable when it came to web design and usability, but in helping us incorporate our new brand into many online resources – and all on a tight timeline. They continue to be critical and trusted partners as we look at ways to keep the site current, relevant, and responsive. Saint Paul Media is with us for the long haul, and we are excited and relieved that they are.

— Kallie Rollenhagen, Marketing Manager | Propel Nonprofits

Working with SPM has been incredible. This small but mighty team is there with you every step of the way to understand exactly what you need and deliver above and beyond anything you could have imagined! Not only is their work impressive, but each person is a joy to work with and I’ll miss seeing them all the time now that this project is over. Thank you Tasha, Jonathan, and Julianne for building one hell of a website for RainbowHealth.org!

— Tia Lauve, Communications Coordinator | Rainbow Health

Saint Paul Media was exceptional to work with! At Global Minnesota, we greatly valued their thoughtful approach to our website redesign, which balanced aesthetics with functionality. Saint Paul Media uses a well curated process, which helped us organize and present information to better reach end users on a variety of platforms. And they brought to the table a wealth of knowledge to ensure our project met organizational goals and budgets as well as the technological demands of the online world. We’ve been extremely pleased with our new website and continue to receive positive feedback on it.

— Maria Paik, Marketing and Communications Manager | Global Minnesota

We worked with Saint Paul Media to overhaul our website, have used them for print design, and maintain a relationship with them through managed website hosting. It is clear that they have a strong understanding of what it’s like to work with nonprofits. They’re incredibly responsive, they’re understanding of shifting timelines on projects, they’re incredibly reasonable in pricing, and overall just delightful people to work with. Not to mention, our website and print annual report turned out beautiful! They worked with our brand but still innovated in fun ways–we will definitely continue our relationship.

— Shelby Pasell, Communications and Development Associate | International Institute of Minnesota

Saint Paul Media has been a forward-thinking, inspiring and motivating partner in our online presence. Our outreach to potential survivors of domestic violence and our accessibility to people seeking safety has increased since Saint Paul Media helped to launch our new website. Their work with us has pushed us to think beyond what our preconceived concept of web design is and helped us to find a platform that connects us with new audiences.
